A good example of a rape joke that’s funny, in my opinion. Because the victim isn’t the butt of the joke, the ridiculous idea that our society makes it dangerous just to have a vagina is the butt of the joke.

I still say we need a better way to describe this than a “rape joke” as if it’s the equivalent of the crap spewed by Tosh and his merry band of fools and supporters. Rape culture joke, maybe? I don’t know. I’m just kind of tired of saying “rape jokes aren’t okay unless they’re these rape jokes” and trying to explain, because it’s just too confusing to the ignorant.

(1) Wanda Sykes for President. (2) I had a hard time articulating it before now, but yeah, amaditalks hits it perfectly: Sykes told a rape culture joke. A clever one, at that. Because as emilie-rainbow pointed out, the butt of the joke was not rape victims, but society’s tendency to reduce women’s identities to being walking hypersexualized orifices.

I’d argue this very point of distinction would be vital in dealing with anyone rationalizing Tosh.

I have yet and probably never will understand the rationale behind Anonymous Hate. But we all know exactly the ailment that inspires it: Cowardice.

So here is my thoughts on those three things that I hear oh so often. Nobody is a waste of space. Not even me, whom sits around and hides from people almost all of the time. Nobody is ugly. Not even people that put others down, even though they should really find a new hobby. Nobody is fat. No matter how much they weigh. Every single soul on this planet is lovely and beautiful.Nobody should end their life because someone says so. I can’t even begin to understand why someone would utter those words IN PERSON, nonetheless hiding behind a gray anonymous face. You just can’t say that to people. Once someone ends their life because of YOU, and YOUR ACTIONS… They’re GONE. Their life is OVER. They’re no longer on EARTH. They’re NOT. COMING. BACK.All of those words, those names that people get called… It only goes as far as you let it. If someone is calling you a name that makes you feel less about yourself hear me out:

What people call you will only go as far as you let it. If you don’t let it into your mind and ignore what these people are saying to you, you will feel SO much better about yourself. Here is what you need to do. Every morning when you wake up tell yourself that you are worth it. Every night when you get ready to go to sleep tell yourself that you are worth it. Because you are. You may not have the best grades, or hang out with the coolest people… You may eat a lot and put on a few pounds every now and then, but you are worth it. Somewhere out there someone is going to love you more then anything, and they will ~~think~~ know you are worth it. They will not think that you are a waste of space, or that you are fat, or ugly, or should (for fuck’s sake) end your life. They will ~~think~~ know you are beautiful and wonderful and amazing. So ladies and gentlemen, stop thinking so low about yourself. You ARE worth it. You ARE so so so worth it.

Everyday, more and more, I see my beloved bbys getting more and more hate - and quite frankly, it just disgusts me that people would do this.

I said it once before, and I’ll say it again -

It still breaks my heart that some asshole anons decide that people don’t deserve to live. Everybody has a right to live, even dickhead anons who send this kind of shit. It’s in the United States Constitution that we all have a right to pursue happiness. What give you the right to tell someone that they should take their own life? What did they do to you that would deserve this? Instead of telling them to commit suicide, why don’t you talk to them about your problem, or maybe ignore them, or maybe you could UNFOLLOW THEM. Who the fuck do you think you are that you can order people around, anonymously ? It’s so pathetic. Not only are you hurting that person, you’re hurting their parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, classmates, etc. It creates a ripple affect that no one can stop, not even you. No matter how “sorry” you are, nothing can make up for the fact that someone is dead because of you.

I’m so angry right now I am barely coherent.

Let’s just all breathe, drink somecalming tea and think about our place in the universe

Today we’re going to talk about something called “The Vocal Minority”.

Lets say you got home with “Generic FPS 4: Special edition with more blood and and extra lag that we forgot to tell you about” and you want to kick the asses of strangers on the internet, rip off your shirt, and scream “I am man!” at the top of your lungs. (Don’t lie, you’ve done it before. I’m looking at you, ladies.)

Now you hop on, and while you’re waiting and people are filing into the room, chatting randomly, you notice that they all seem to be nice, sane people. You still want to kick their ass, but hey, it’s an ass you gotta respect too. So you’re there, respecting all the very polite ass you’re about to kick, when in comes the douchebag.

They’re not just some low grade douche who you can put in their place with a few select words, no, this is the deaf douchebag. They’re the asshole who had any semblance of shame removed long ago, and is now nothing but a quaking bundle of slurs and kitchen jokes, waiting to burst, and no amount of wit or logic will shut their face.

The majority of the room is still made up of wonderful, polite people who protect their teammates and try to strategize, but then there is that one guy who flings slurs at your mother you didn’t even know existed, he team kills, and he lives up to his name as “The Douchebag”.

Now with all this said and done, when one of your friends ask how the match went, you’re not going to remember all those perfect players who told you “good job” and who helped you out. No, you’re going to remember the douchebag, and he is going to taint your entire view of what happened. As far as your brain was concerned, there were no nice people. All there was, was this asshole who called your dad a “Chicken Faggot”.

This is the Vocal Minority. They are a small group of people, tucked away among the many who do nothing but stir up shit and taint your view of the group as a whole. They are so loud and irrational, that it overcomes their numbers, and drowns out the many. These are the religious extremist, the bigoted dickholes, the warmongers. It is a cyst on society as a whole and does not effect fandom alone.

But lets get back to the Homestuck fandom.

Now, at most the Vocal Minority of the Homestuck probably hits around 10%, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was less.

Seems like a small number, isn’t it? That’s just 10 people out of 100 who are frothing asshats. It probably looks like it shouldn’t be that small, there are so many dicks in the fandom, it must be a higher percentage. The problem with percentages is that as the number you’re picking from grows, so does the result. Suddenly those ten people are one hundred, and then a thousand, and then larger.

Now this is just a guesstimate, mixed with some information I remember hearing, so don’t hold me to this, but I’m going to peg the homestuck fandom somewhere in the 2,000,000 people range. To put that into perspective, that’s roughly the population of Houston Texas. There are about 90 countries with smaller populations.

With about 2 million people, that tiny 10% is suddenly 200,000 people. That’s about 50 countries smaller than that.

There are two hundred thousand people speaking for the fandom. 200,000 people who are weebs, and assholes, and just horrible people all around.

200,000 people out of 2,000,000 that make up the view of our fandom as bucket slinging, obnoxious, shitheads.

So next time you encounter someone like this, I want you to stop for a moment and step away if you can. Think about all the good that has come out of this fandom, amazing friends, good art, music, jokes, cosplays, anything you ever believed to be good. Think about the good things, and remind yourself that this person does not represent the whole.

And then walk away and be happy.

Because if you’re screaming about how the fandom is nothing but sexist, hypocritical assholes with only half a brain, and you’re going to leave, then you’re looking at the minority. And I hate to break it to you, but they’re everywhere, and if you focus only on them, you’re going to end up a very bitter person. -Pollux

Guys, my youngest sister, Lori Anne (pronounce like LorI Ann) ran away last night. She just left the house.

We don’t know why or where. She did something similar last year, but out of her school, she was just walking then, and had no idea where she was going.

This time, she made a back-pack. She has clothes, food, water bottles (the kitchen was a mess and they noticed them gone.) She took our youngest brother’s bike.

She knows where she’s going. She has to. It was way to well planed out.

She left notes, each for my other 3 siblings, our grandmother, and parents, each is diffrent, but each has the statement “Home is where the heart is, and mine isn’t here.”

I’m worried sick everyone. I was really depressed at her age as well (She’s 13). I’m glad she didn’t turn to self harm like I did, but this is more drastic than anything I ever did.

The above is a picture of her. We live in northern Mississippi in the USA. She was on a bike, as said above, but if she was kidnapped, she could be anywhere!!!
